One of our nurses will also follow up with you a few days before your procedure to obtain your health history, provide you with pre-operative instructions and answer any
questions you may have.
Preparing for your Procedure
- Plan to arrive approximately one hour before your procedure time. This time is required to complete your paperwork, obtain a health history, and prepare you for the procedure. Your arrival time will be given to you by the center’s nurse the day before your procedure. If you do not hear from us by the day before you’re scheduled, please call us at (732) 719-1800.
- You must have a responsible adult to bring you in and take you home. If you have no driver, your appointment will be cancelled. In some cases, the responsible adult may have to stay with you for several hours after the procedure. If using public transportation (i.e. taxi), you must have a family member or friend accompany you. Your doctor will give you specific instructions on the day of your procedure as to when you can return to work.
- Bring a list of your current medications and drug allergies. If you are taking Coumadin, Plavix, Aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication (i.e. ibuprofen, Aleve), please call the pre-op nurse immediately at (732) 719-1808. Please also give us a call if you think you are pregnant.
- Leave all valuables and jewelry at home.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as elastic waist pants, a T-shirt and slip-on shoes.
- Please do not wear makeup or nail polish.
Stop eating solid food after 12 midnight, the night before your procedure.
If you are taking daily heart or blood pressure medications, continue taking them including the day of the procedure with a sip of water. The physician will discuss with you the type of sedation options available. In order to administer sedation or anesthesia, you must have an empty stomach.
After Your Procedure
- Rest on the day of your procedure.
- If you received sedation or general anesthesia, your reflexes and mental ability may be impaired even though you may feel normal.
- You may feel dizzy, lightheaded or sleepy for 24 hours or longer.
- Do not consume alcohol, drive, operate machinery,
or make important personal or business decisions
for 24 hours.
- If receiving general anesthesia, it is normal to feel
generalized aching and sore muscles for 24 hours.
- A sore throat may occur.
- Drink lots of fluids and progress to solids as tolerated.
- Call your doctor if you experience any of the following:
- Temperatures over 101°F
- Signs of infection
- Continued nausea/vomiting
- Excessive pain
- Swelling or bleeding
- Excessive drainage
- A surgery center nurse will call you the following day regarding your recent stay.
- In case of emergency, call 911 immediately.
Insurance and Billing
- You will need to bring your insurance and identification cards with you, including Medicare.
Also bring a photo ID. Motor Vehicle Insurance patients will be required to pay their deductible, if applicable, on or before the day of treatment.
- MasterCard, Visa and American Express are accepted by the facility. Debit cards, cash, cashier’s checks, certified checks and money orders are also
accepted. No personal checks, please.
- Self pay patients will be required to pay for services on or before the admission date unless other arrangements have been made.
In the event any of the above requirements cannot be met, the facility will attempt to make other financial arrangements. These arrangements must be approved by the Administrator. If you have questions about financial arrangements, please call us at (732) 719-1800.
